 Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Year 1!

Year 1 is such an amazing year when the children really develop in their learning and emotionally, and it is the start of their Key Stage 1 adventure.

To transition our learning from reception learning is made more fun and engaging by using lots of hands on activities and movement breaks with a big focus initially on building up fine and gross motor skills.  In addition to small group and whole class learning children are encouraged to 'continue our own learning' during COOL time (continuous provision) where they can choose their activities. To help embed learning there is also have a combination of school visits and school trips planned including an author webinar, The Sidmouth Toy Museum, a nature reserve visit e.g. Kingcombe and a visit to a smallholding to see how food is grown.

I really look forward to my journey with your child, sharing their adventures and witnessing the fantastic progress they will make!

Mrs Angus
